Weekend Courses
Description
More convivial than studious, more concrete than theoretical: why not take a weekend to discover the world of the wines of Burgundy? The wine school will take you out into the field, where the wines are born – the vineyards, the cuveries and the cellars. The course covers :
- An introduction to the vineyards and classification of the wines of Burgundy. Audio-visual;
- Visit to the Château du Clos de Vougeot and the Hospices de Beaune;
- Domaine wine tasting and visits;
- Tour through the vineyards;
- Lunch both days.
Tasted wines
Some 20 different appellations from the 5 different wine-producing regions – Chablis, Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais – will be tasted over the 2 days.

4 wine estates, the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the Hospices de Beaune.
Meals tasting
2 tasting lunches in restaurants in the Côte de Beaune with 4 wines selected from B.I.V.B. cellar, at each meal.

Dates and prices
- Dates 2008: - Time: 9.30am – 6.00pm each day.
- Location: Wine tasting room at the Ecole des Vins in Beaune; Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune vineyards and appellations.
- Price 345 euros per person. This price includes lunch on both days and any transport involved within the course structure.
- Option: Accommodation options on request in 2 to four 4 stars accommodation located in the centre of Beaune.
- Student Discount: 15% (accommodation and restaurants not included).
- Group Discounts: available for groups of 4 or more
The Ecole des Vins reserves the right to cancel this course if the number of participants is insufficient.

Day+1
9.00 am A lecture on the wines:
-history, climate, production, appellation hierarchy, production structure, vinification, maturing of wines, etc…
Tasting initiation;
-elements in sensory physiology, definition of the visual aspect, definition and origins of the aromas, definition of the flavours, tutored tasting of 4 wines
Visit and tasting in a wine domaine
12.30 pm Lunch with tasting at a restaurant in Côte de Beaune
3.00 pm Visit with commentary to the Château du Clos de Vougeot, headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin
The vine's vegetative cycle, and cultivation of the vine
Visit and tasting in a wine domaine
8.00 pm Dinner with tasting at a Côte de Beaune restaurant
Day+2
9.00 am Tasting exercises with 8 wines
Visit and tasting in a wine domaine
12.30 pm Lunch with tasting at a restaurant in Côte de Beaune
3.00 pm Visit to the Hospices de Beaune
